mophie and (RED) Team Up in Africa - Day 2
Day 2 - The mophie team visited the first health clinic of the trip, the Likatsing Clinic. Funding for this clinic is made possible by (RED) and the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. After meeting several of the medical staff, volunteers and patients, we were amazed by how this modest clinic has made such an enormous impact. Over 10,000 patients were helped by this health center alone.
From Lethoso, team mophie traveled with the delegates from (RED) into the nearby mountains to visit the small, rural village of Nyakosoba. The village chief explained how vital their local clinic is to the small community. The antiretroviral therapy alone has eased the pain and helped treat thousands suffering with the AIDS virus. Medication from this clinic has also prevented the HIV virus from transferring from mother to child, saving future generations.
