mophie joins opening ceremony to introduce limited edition varsity jacket
New York, (Nov 20, 2014) – mophie®—the #1 selling mobile battery case in North America and innovator of power and storage solutions for mobile devices—announced today a collaboration with Opening Ceremony—the multifaceted international retailer and fashion brand—fusing together the inspired design philosophies of both brands for the limited edition mophie for Opening Ceremony Varsity Jacket, integrated with a mophie powerstation designed to charge any mobile device. It’s the first-ever wearable collaboration for mophie.
The exclusive run of 100 jackets is now available at Opening Ceremony retail locations in New York, Los Angeles, and its online store. Opening Ceremony is no stranger to noteworthy alliances having worked with brands such as Rodarte, Topshop and Maison Martin Margiela. For mophie, it’s the latest collaboration among its carefully selected line of fashion-based partners.
“Anytime we work with an exceptional brand like Opening Ceremony, the goal is to emphasize our design-forward approach to everything we do,” said Ross Howe, VP of Marketing at mophie. “Mobile technology is as much a part of what we wear as our clothes are, so every product we create must be as aesthetically pleasing as it is functional. It’s why these types of collaborations seem very natural for us.”
Worn by notables such as Rihanna, Beyonce, Chris Brown and Jessica Alba, the Opening Ceremony Varsity Jacket is a classic style found in the closets of both men and women. Offering an embedded mophie power station which links to a charging cord in the jacket’s side pocket, and produced in a very limited quantity, the mophie for Opening Ceremony Varsity Jacket is truly an exclusive piece of highly wearable fashion.
“Carol and I use our phones a lot, especially when we’re traveling, and we always turn to mophie’s products to keep us charged, often carrying them in our pockets through airports, and while running around town,” said Humberto Leon, co-founder and creative director of Opening Ceremony. “We’re excited to partner with mophie to add an extra built-in functionality to a super limited edition version of our classic Opening Ceremony Varsity Jacket.”
The mophie for Opening Ceremony Varsity Jacket is one of many special products imagined by Opening Ceremony for the 2014 holiday shopping season. The integrated mophie powerstation 4000—also part of mophie’s universal batteries line—can quickly charge virtually any device in the world, including the iPad and other hungry tablets, with ease.
