Frequent Questions

  • Will the power reserve external battery charge my smartphone?
mophie power reserve external batteries are compatible with just about any available smartphone. For example, the power reserve 1X battery can provide up to 1X extra battery to an iPhone 6; the power reserve 2X battery can provide up to 2X extra battery to an iPhone 6.
Can I charge my tablet from the power reserve battery?
The power reserve 2X battery can provide hours of charge to a tablet. However, in most cases it will not provide a complete charge to a tablet. We do not recommend using the power reserve 1X battery to charge a tablet.
How many additional hours will I get from the power reserve battery?
Because the power reserve batteries are universal and will work with most USB devices, its hard to be specific about how many additional hours you will get—it depends on what kind of battery you are charging and what you're using it for. Rest assured that both power reserve battery models will keep your smartphone going for hours, and the power reserve 2X battery will add hours of battery to tablets and other USB devices.
Which port is used for charging my device, and which port is for recharging the power reserve battery?
Connect the supplied USB cable (or the USB cable that came with your device) to the large, rectangular USB port to charge your device. When you need to recharge the power reserve battery, connect the supplied USB cable to the smaller micro USB port and to any high-current power source with a USB out.
Once I connect my device to the power reserve battery, how do I start charging?
Simply press the power reserve battery’s status indicator button to begin charging.
  • Can I recharge the power reserve battery from a computer’s USB port?
Yes, the power reserve battery will charge from any high-current USB port—which are available on most computers. Lower-current ports available on some computers, as well as USB ports on keyboards and hubs, may not effectively charge the power reserve battery.
Can I charge my device while recharging the power reserve battery?
The power reserve batteries do not have pass-through charge capability. Please recharge the power reserve battery separately from your other devices.
Why aren’t the LEDs blinking while my power reserve battery is charging?
After connecting the power reserve battery’s micro USB port to a power source, the LED status indicators will start blinking to indicate charging. The lights will turn off after 30 seconds allowing for a good night’s rest. Remember to check the status indicator before you disconnect. When all four LEDs are lit, your power reserve battery is fully charged.
How many times can I recharge my power reserve battery?

You can recharge your power reserve battery for over 500 full cycles. A full cycle is when you recharge the battery from 0% to 100%. Partial cycles, like charging from 25% to 100%, will not count as a full cycle until all of the partials equal 100%.

For example, if you recharge from 25% to 100% one day (a 75% charge), then a couple of days later you recharge from 50% to 100% (a 50% charge), and a few days after that you recharge from 25% to 100% again (another 75% charge), you will have recharged two full cycles over that period (75% + 50% + 75% = 200%).

After 500 full cycles, the power reserve battery may provide less than 75% of its original capacity. This is normal for any product with a lithium polymer battery.
