Frequent Questions

  • Will the powerstation external battery charge my smartphone?
mophie powerstation external batteries are compatible with virtually any available smartphone. For example, the powerstation 1X battery can provide up to 1X extra battery to an iPhone 6; the powerstation 2X battery can provide up to 2X extra battery to an iPhone 6, and the powerstation 3X battery can provide up to 3X extra battery to an iPhone 6.
Can I charge my tablet from the powerstation battery?
The powerstation 3X battery will provide hours of charge to two tablets, and the powerstation 2X battery can provide hours of charge to a single tablet. We do not recommend using the powerstation 1X battery to charge a tablet.
Which port is used for charging my device, and which port is for recharging the powerstation battery?
Connect the supplied USB cable (or the USB cable that came with your device) to the large, rectangular USB port to charge your device. When you need to recharge the powerstation battery, connect the supplied USB cable to the smaller micro USB port and to any high-current power source with a USB out.
Once I connect my device to the powerstation battery, how do I start charging?
Charging begins automatically as soon as you connect your device to the powerstation battery’s USB port.
  • Can I recharge the powerstation battery from a computer’s USB port?
Yes, the powerstation battery will charge from any high-current USB port—which are available on most computers. Lower-current ports available on some computers, as well as USB ports on keyboards and hubs, may not effectively charge the powerstation battery.
Can I charge my device while recharging the powerstation battery (pass-through charging)?
The powerstation 2X and powerstation 3X batteries have Priority+ pass-through charging, so while you’re charging the powerstation battery you can also charge a device connected the USB port marked with Priority+ Charging icon—your connected device charges first, then the powerstation battery recharges. Note that although the powerstation 3X battery can charge two devices simultaneously, it can only charge one device while it is being recharged. (The powerstation 1X battery does not have Priority+ pass-through charging capability.)
Why aren’t the LEDs blinking while my powerstation battery is charging?
After connecting the powerstation battery’s micro USB port to a power source, the LED status indicators will start blinking to indicate charging. The lights will turn off after 30 seconds allowing for a good night’s rest. Remember to check the status indicator before you disconnect. When all four LEDs are lit, your powerstation battery is fully charged.
How many times can I recharge my powerstation battery?
You can recharge your powerstation battery for over 500 full cycles. A full cycle is when you recharge the battery from 0% to 100%. Partial cycles, like charging from 25% to 100%, will not count as a full cycle until all of the partials equal 100%.
For example, if you recharge from 25% to 100% one day (a 75% charge), then a couple of days later you recharge from 50% to 100% (a 50% charge), and a few days after that you recharge from 25% to 100% again (another 75% charge), you will have recharged two full cycles over that period (75% + 50% + 75% = 200%).
After 500 full cycles, the powerstation battery may provide less than 75% of its original capacity. This is normal for any product with a lithium polymer battery.
